What is the Children's Corner?

The Children's Corner is a before and after school care program to accomodate children, grades K through 6, whose parents may not be home before and after school dismissal. The Children's Corner provides a stimulating, family-like atmosphere for children under the direction of a highly qualified, experienced staff.

The program is open to all children residing in Larchmont and Mamaroneck. The Children's Corner has sites in the public schools. The facilities are outstanding for this type of program-with spacious rooms and easy access to outdoor playground area.

Flexible Hours

The Children's Corner is available for working and non-working parents. The program currently accommodates children on a daily basis, and also on an occasional basis. Numbers of days and hours of attendance can vary depending on your needs. The Children's Corner offers childcare services on early dismissal days.

Transportation

Currently, bus service is available to bring children to a center if one is not available in your child's school. Mamaroneck Board of Education buses are used and a Children's Corner staff member meets the children at their school each day and accompanies them on the bus to The Children's Corner. Children are never without adult supervision.

Other Information

Children receive individual attention from staff members. Someone is always available to play a game , listen to news of a child's day, or help with homeowrk . The staff/child ratio is generally 1 to 8; for kindergarten children, it is 1 to 5

Nutritious snacks are served at appropriate times, often made by the children. Children have a unique opportunity to learn and to play cooperatively with others of different ages.

The Children's Corner was a project of the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Committee on Family and Youth. It is neither administered nor funded by the Mamaroneck School District. All contributions are tax deductible. Scholarships are available. All application material is confidential.
